I took a trip in between weddings to get married! Amy and I planned this trip a long time ago and couldn’t wait to finally tie the knot. We had a friend/photographer of ours, Scott Taylor, meet up with us in Las Vegas to take some pictures. (I marked his pictures with his name.) I am used to being behind the camera at a wedding, never in front of it!

We stayed at the Bellagio overlooking the fountains and the Eiffel Tower, which was the perfect spot to have our very private ceremony. After we exchanged rings and a kiss, we left to explore the strip and old Vegas for pictures.

Scott took the greatest images, and I give him tons of credit because he was constantly having to fight with other vacationers taking pictures of us. We felt like celebrities! Too funny. Thank you again Scott.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. I brought home the most amazing wife.

When Kaitlin and I shoot a wedding, our goal is to capture 300-400 top quality pictures. Some weddings are easier to reach this number while others can be a challenge. Jessica and Philip’s wedding had enough photo opportunities to fill two weddings! We have never taken so many pictures at one wedding, which was fantastic. We were even able to take a break and have our pictures taken by the photo booth. Enjoy!

This week was my annual family vacation to North Carolina. My Oma and Opa orchestrated this trip some 25 years ago and we haven’t missed a year since. The new additions to the trip, Finley and Kellen, are about the ages of when some of middle generation began their NC summer vacation. It is really incredible how fast time flies. This weekend we had the honor of photographing Laurie and Jeff. Kaitlin and I both knew Laurie from Sherburne-Earlville Schools. Laurie was a former coworker of my father’s until he retired and he still gives her all the credit for getting him through the last couple years of his career.

On a side note... at weddings I sometimes take group shots when people ask for them and never think twice about it. This time I was asked by Laurie’s brother to take a picture of him, his wife, and their three adorable kids. We tried and tried to get a normal shot but the kids would have none of it (nose picking and strange faces). I personally LOVE the picture that came out and would prefer it to a normal one. It is my favorite wedding family shot to date and I added it to this blog post.

It is July fourth and I have been working on this all day and now I am off to see my new family. Enjoy the pictures and happy 4th of July! Kaitlin’s shots are marked with the letter “K.”

The welcome Kaitlin and I received from Nicole’s friend Jen set the tone for this wedding, fun, exciting, and happy. I always enjoy the little stories of how couples meet. I was in Aurora about one year ago for a wine tasting and witnessed a wedding there. Fast forward one year and I am back taking pictures at Sarah and Spencer’s wedding. Lukas, my brother, came to NY this week and asked if I could take some pictures of him and his second family, the Thompsons. The backstory of this started about 4 years when he began filming two of my former students at LaFayette. In the beginning, all Lukas knew was that they were Native students and had amazing lacrosse skills. The story has since grown into a journey with many branches, breaks, and blossoms. I cannot wait until the movie is complete; until then, enjoy the shots.

BBQ, Engagement Session, BBQ pt 2

This weekend I was able to find some time to take two engagement photos of me and my bride to be. Other notable events from the weekend were BBQs at my fathers and Amy’s house, fishing where a 17in brown trout was caught (unfortunately not mine) and I got some new camera/computer equipment for the summer wedding season. My next wedding is arriving shortly.

My first wedding of the year is on the books. Becky and Bill were absolutely wonderful. They were very relaxed, so relaxed that they were constantly joking around with me and the other guests. Skaneateles was the perfect venue to host a wedding allowing for many unique photographic opportunities. If my weddings for the rest of the year are half as fun as this one, then I am not going to want the season to end. Enjoy the pictures!

This was my last trip for the weekend. Amy and I made it to Oneonta to visit my college friends and their two goofy boys. I loved how much food Ethan could store on his face and down his shirt, while Logan impressed me with his hill rolling skills.

I took the 3 hour drive down to NJ this weekend to visit my favorite 3 month old and drop off my mom. I found it quite difficult to take pictures of my nephew because I was more interested in his laugh, smile, and slobber than my camera. Despite the distractions I was able to take these pictures during my short stay.

I forgot how calm and serene it can be after a good snowfall. My goal was to get pictures of trees laden with snow but most of it had either blown off or melted. I decided to get some shots of snowmelt instead. Water is truly an amazing substance, especially when you stop it in a single frame. Enjoy the shots!
